Budapest

Now one week in, my and I friends decided to start our travels through Europe. The first place on the list (due to late planning), was to hit Budapest in Hungry. I only ever heard about it from the popular song “My house in Budapest.” The only thing I really knew and wanted to see was the bathhouses. Friday was a very productive sightseeing day. We were able to see the parliament building as well as various castles and other landmarks. later that day I was able to go and see a bathhouse. I was a little disappointed by the bathhouse features. It was very beautiful on the outside but inside was not to clean and the water was very warm. Looking back, I really didn’t know what to expect from a bathhouse.

Saturday started off a little later. Just one full day of sightseeing can tire you out. We spent most of Saturday in the area near Buda Castle. This by far was the coolest part of the trip. When at the castle, we happen to stumble upon an outdoor festival as well as a wedding! So there were some great vibes as well as delicious food. I was amazed at how big the whole section was for the Buda Castle. The castle itself wasn’t too large but the town it resided in was closed off and made the whole area into an awesome excursion.

Sunday morning came around and we were all exhausted from clubbing the night before. We went to this place called Morrisons 2. It was 5 floors with 9 different rooms. Each room had its own theme and bar. Once we were up and at em, we decided to take it slow and just do one thing on Sunday. We went to the House of Terror. The House of Terror is a museum as well as the actual building that held Nazi soldiers and prisoners of war during World War II. I was taken back by some of the things that the Hungarians went through during this time period. The most shocking part of the museum was the ground floor, which was the legitimate torture chambers and barracks. This really opened my eyes to how much that goes on in the world yet I know so little.
